Its not just the resolution that counts. Consider factors like this. How fast does it focus. How well does it choose its focal point. How well does it handle shooting people with a light source (like light from a window or the sun) behind them? The resolution is only important if you are planning on digitally zooming the picture later or while taking the picture. To be able to answer your question directly I need to know your budget / price range.

| "Quality pictures more often than any other camera period..."
I only use Nikon. The new D3000 or D5000 with the scene recognition system produces the best quality pictures more often than any other camera period. Try it out in the store. Flash 10 random pictures without taking time to aim and help the camera figure out what is to be the focal point, the foreground and the background. The Nikon always fairs the best in my experience.

 Q. What is the best camera resolution? i'm going to make a video for youtube with my phone (its all i have, lol) and i dont know what resolution is best... it has 3 options: 640x480, 320x240, and 176x144. i assume that the highest is the best but i have no idea. which setting is best, and what do the numbers even mean?
"The best for any website would be the highest resolution..."
The best for any website would be the highest resolution, which in your case would be 640x480. If youtube needs the file to be smaller it should shrink the file automatically.
By the way, the higher the numbers the higher the resolution. Its basically saying that horizontally there are 640 pixels across and 480 pixels vertically.

 Q. Which is the best digital camera resolution and price wise?
"And its not as expensive as some cameras out there..."
well, that depends on how much value you place on something, and how much you want to spend.
i have a fujifilm finepix e550 and its held up great for the last 2 years or so. the pics come out great, and it has an awesome zoom, and an awesome digital zoom. never heard anyone say anything about my pics other than how good they come out. and its not as expensive as some cameras out there.
for more current models, i'd check out consumer reports, and just go to circuit city or staples or whatever and try a few out. see what you like.

 Q. What's the best resolution of a web camera? the thing is i'm preparing a very important web meeting. i want to look perfect. if you have any know-how, please share, thanks!
"Format video resolution sqcif 128 × 96 qcif 176..."
I use to work for a Video Conferencing company, it is not the resolution that's important. There are so many factors in getting good quality Video Conferencing. Make sure you have broadband, and it is working properly, meaning that you have the bandwidth for you to use at the time of the meeting. My ADSL works great in the early mornings, but pretty useless late afternoon all the way through midnight. Shared bandwidth and over-subscription by the service providers.
In this case, the most important thing about "communication" is the getting the audio (voice) clear. No cut-offs, no long delays, etc. The video ultimately is not so important. Just make sure you don't have anybody running around naked in the background, you'll be ok. :-)
It is better to allocate the bandwidth for audio instead of using all your bandwidth for Video and not be able to talk or explain yourself.
Resolution wise, we use to use (384KBps at QCIF) or 1.5MBps at CIF) for full motion video. It's more than enough for most things.
My wife and I VidConf using MSN or Yahoo, I thinks that's at SQCIF using 64 or 128KBps.
Format Video Resolution SQCIF 128 × 96 QCIF 176 × 144 CIF 352 × 288 4CIF 704 × 576 16CIF 1408 × 1152 Another point, try to use a CCD type camera instead of CMOS. Much clearer and brighter. CCD cameras cost about US$50-$100, CMOS cost about $30-$100.

 Q. Which brand and model of mobile phone has best video/camera resolution? i've tried moto v3 and nokia 6103. they are pretty bad.worse yet the shutter speed is slowwwwwwwwwww.
"Those are only cameras with vga lenses..."
those are only cameras with VGA lenses. try getting a phone with a megapixel lens. If you have no budget, I recommend the Nokia N93 ($700), Sony Ericsson K790a ($400), or the Samsung A990 ($350, Screen Rotates to serve as camera viewfinder). they all have 3.2 megapixel lenses. If you ARE on a budget, but still want a good quality camera phone, try the LG CU500 (Cingular) ($Free-$49.99). It has a 1.3 megapixel camera that sqivels back and forth, or the Sony ericsson W810i($Free-$300) with a 2.0 megapixel lens. Good Luck!

 Q. What is the best resolution to use with my digital camera? i´m not willing to print large formats? just want to print some of the best pictures of my vacations but nothing bigger than an a4 paper
"Your best resolution is probably still whatever the highest resolution of your camera is..."
Even though you don't want to make big prints, your best resolution is probably still whatever the highest resolution of your camera is. If you have a fine, high, JPG setting, than this would be the way to go. The reason for this would be the fact that you may want to crop your photos. Maybe your subject was a bit far or you want to eliminate some distracting element, so shooting in the highest available resolution would give you the most pixels to work with. There is a trade off, of course, you'll get less pictures on a memory card, but memory is pretty cheap and with 5 MP camera, you will still get over 100 photos on a 1 GIG card which can be had for about $60 if you look around.
