On my cheap compass, the needle sticks. You have to tap it to be sure you are heading the right way. I believe a good compass is more reliable, and it built better to withstand all the knocks and bumps sure to happen while camping. Ted 13 Miller St., Toronto, Ontario

Functionally not too much except for a good compass will have a casing that allows you to line up the compass with the map for orienteering . It depends on your intent whether or not you need to spend to buy the more expensive compass.

i am horrible at math and don't want to go out and buy those "dummies" books for one test. i'd like to take sample tests that will be close to what will be on the compass test.

Q. Would i get past airport security with a compass?
i'm going to miami for the holidays to see my dad. i got a project for geometry but i need my dads help, he is an engineer so he is good with math. anyway, it requires using a compass because were practicing constructing angles, arcs, and radis and the whole 9 yards. would airport security let me past or would they confiscate it? my mom and dad said to leave my kit home and just buy one there but i am still curios. thankyou for your time

As long as it's in your checked in luggage, you should be OK. If you were it bring it as carry on you'd be in some serious trouble.

i have to carry a math book, spanish book, 2 novels, 2 binders, 1 folder, a caculator, index cards, protractor, compass, and all the highlighters, pens, and pencils! and not to mention my practice stuff! h-e-l-p!!!

i would suggest either a LL Bean backpack or a North Face backpack. the northfaces are a bit more expensive than LL bean but its worth it because they last longer and look nicer.

my best friend is going back to school this winter.she wants to be a physical therapist.she's going to earn her associates first and become a physical therapy aide. what math and science classes do future physical therapy aides take? i'm asking because i want to put together a backpack full of cute school and office supplies.i want to get her everything she will need to pursue her dream of becoming a physical therapist. will she need to take college algebra? will she need to take geometry or trigonometry? i don't want to buy her graphing calculator,protractor,and compass for nothing.lol. what science classes will she need? will she need chemistry class? do physical therapy aides/ physical therapists need chemistry class? i don't want to buy her goggles for nothing.lol. i want to make sure i buy her the right things.i want to just fill a backpack with school and office supplies so she will be all set for school.

do you mean assistants (PTA) or aide or PT. That is a huge different what is required. An aide needs no education A PTA requires algebra, A and P, maybe chemistry A PT requires 1 year of general bio, general chem, general physics. One year of A and P, some schools require calc others less, Some schools require organic others do not. Most schools require psy. Usually just a scientific calulator is sufficent

i plan to sign up for the above-mentioned class and wish to ask those who have taken this class online and used introduction to statistics by triola. how did your instructor conduct the online class? did you use my math lab aw by course compass? anyone who still have the text book and the mathlab, i am interested to buy them. thank you.

I took the class, but because my life was getting so chaotic at the time - I ended up failing. Our instructor didn't require us to use the Math Lab, but my classmates who did use it found it very helpful. I would like to suggest that if you buy the book, you make sure it is the right version. When I re-took this class, I was totally lost the first week or two because I had an older version and wasn't seeing the same things my instructor and classmates were seeing. It seemed like a fun class! (then again, I'm into that kind of stuff) I wish my life hadn't been so busy so I could have focused more on it. And I hope that you enjoy it too! P.S. I forgot to answer how the class was conducted. ... I attended classes at Colorado Technical University Online. It was much like going to a chat room. The instructor was the only one with the ability to voice chat and there was a "board" at the top of the screen where the instructor could write stuff or show slides. I took a few online courses (like to become certified in HTML and CSS) that were conducted more like a discussion board. I did not like this setup as much since the whole class could view your work (and potentially copy it, only making a few small changes so that the teacher sees it as unique)

Q. Help with 7th grade math!!?
ok! i am having a really hard time with the following math problem: a woman has $100 to spend on school items. she had to buy at least one of the following items. compass:$1.00 abuscus: $10.00 chalk $0.50 as i said before she has to buy at least one of each. she also can spend $100, no more, no less. the hard part is, she has to have a hundred items. (hint from my teacher: your answer should have no more than 5 abuacusses) there is also 5 diffrent ways to solve the problem i'd be happy with one. i really need help with this and i would really appreciate some help! thanks sooo much!

i am starting college in september and am studying maths and further maths, i am not sure what at all to buy for these subject (i.e compass? calculator?) what is it best to work in/on - a file, note pad? if you could help that would be great!! hettie

hey you will need: a scientific calculator - some further maths courses like you to have a calculator that you can draw graphs on - but your lecturer will recommend one. pencils, pens, i like to use high lighters, a ruler, protractor, compass, a folder, and a pad of paper, i use lined because it's easy to set out your work. Don't worry about it too much, they'll soon tell you what you need hope this helps

ok i want to know one or two places i can get all of these in prefferably green and / or blue; heres my list: backpack (green) binder (green + made of cloth with file folder and place to put paper and notebooks) calculator (green) colored pencils compass (like for math,not the n s e or w ones) dividers (hopefully made of plastic not paper) erasers filler paper (college ruled) folders (with designs or animals maybe hamsters or penguins =d ) graph paper highlighters (of all colors) idex cards + case notebooks (spiral bound , one, two, and three subjects) pencils pencil container / pouch pens protractor ruler *scissors ok thats all! i just wanna know what your fav place to go school supplies shopping and if it has most of these things! thx

Staples or walmart should have all of those things in a variety of colors. Walmart is generally the cheaper of the two, but staples will have more of a variety in some areas.

Q. Ok i have to ask how can a person with learning disabilities get into colledge?
i still havent passed my ged and was thinking of buying a high school diploma online but havent done it yet.its the math its all greek to me and i have to get a career ,a profession ,a trade and i cant even get in because i have to have a ged and pass the compass which has more math. should i just buy the diploma online and bluff my way in and then study really hard for the compass? i just feel like im running out of time and energy for all this.i need a trade. ged class was such a mess people there make it hard to learn anyway because they wont shutup but i have dyscalcula anyway so its just so hard.what trade could i get into?

A GED might not be attainable for you without special help. You should get in touch with the state rehabilitation agency and see about getting your GED with their assistance. Don't buy a diploma - it will come back to bite you and you will regret it big time. I have learning disabilities - dyslexia and dyscalcula and I have a BPH in Philosophy, a BA in Psychology, a MS in Rehabilitation Counseling, and another in Disability Studies. So don't give up!

Q. School supply list - escondido high school?
im going into 9th grade, and they didnt give me a supply list cuz they said all u need is some folders, a binder and some pencils... i moved here from maryland, so i dont really know what buy( they gave us a supply list in md for school)... do i need a compass for math, pens, ruler, etc.???? plz help oh and do they have lockers??

i go there. and you pretty much just need the basics like pens,pencils, binders, and paper. oh and there is only P.E. lockers
