Functionally not too much except for a good compass will have a casing that allows you to line up the compass with the map for orienteering. It depends on your intent whether or not you need to spend to buy the more expensive compass.

 Q. What is a good hiking compass to buy? i need to purchase a compass for hiking and i want it to be affordable, but not a piece of crap...any suggestions.
Look for a large, liquid-filled capsule for the needle, it will settle quickly. Get the kind with a plastic backing plate. A bright color is always smart, to avoid leaving it behind. Put a lanyard on it, when in constant use, you'll put it in your shirt pocket, and make it long enough to go around your neck for the late-night walk out to the bushes. (Which is when many people get lost) Rounded corners are nice, especially for Women. This way, you can tuck it into your shirt, when no pocket is available, and it won't swing around banging. An adjustable declination compensation is handy, but if you do math in your head, it is not needed, and if you don't do precise work, it is a bit extra. Consider this an advanced feature. $20 buck will get you a nice unit, and for beginners, a $10 unit from Silva works great.
Avoid the "lensatic" , "engineer's", and little ones.

Is the jeep compass a good reliable car to buy? i have found a used jeep compass and i am very interested in buying this mini suv. but, a toyota dealor said to never buy domestic cars b/c they won't last. i think that he is just saying this to get me to buy a toyota, but i really want to buy a car that will last me!
I have a 08' Patriot and I love it. The compass and patriot are based on the same platform. If you look around you can find many Jeep Wranglers, Cherokee's and Grand Cherokees running around with many many miles on them. I know of a couple guys running around in jeeps older than me and I'm 30. I agree he is just trying to get you to buy a Toyota, they are good. BUT get what you like, what you can afford. Yes make sure it comes with a Warranty. I would guess it would have a 3 year on it. I had a VW and I put so much money into. I had a Ford and a Chevy product and didn't spend a lot on them. My hubby's old Toyota is still running on it's second motor. People are going to try to persuade you to buy whatever but it comes down to what YOU like, what YOU want, what YOU can afford.

i own a repair shop,and either vehicle is a good choice to buy but i think you would like the jeep compass a lot better,both are good, but i have always liked the jeeps,and the caliber is a really nice vehicle,id have a hard time my self choosing from those two,i have drove a new caliber and they drive really nice,and look good to,and come with some really good features on them,so either one you decide on will be a good choice,i got a feeling you,ll wind up with the jeep compass though,good luck i hope this help,s.

Yamaha acoustics are not bad values for the dollar. Look on harmony Central and read all the reviews of your guitar

Q. What are good speakers for a 2007 jeep compass? i want to put new speakers in my 2007 jeep compass, the factory ones suck! i like to play my music loud so i need good ones, but don't really know what to buy. also what would be a good stereo as well?
i would get an Alpine or Sony CD Player and go whith 6 inch Polk DB's for the front doors and Polk Coaxils for the back doors and 2 10 inch Directed studio subs. Get a directed a404 amp for the door speakers and directed audio 1200D monoblock amp. you will love the sound of it i guarentee it.

Q. Would a compass be a good investment for prayer? salaam aleikum
i have terrible sense of direction so i have no idea which direction to pray in except when i'm at home. so usually when i pray outside of my house i'm not facing the right way because i don't know directions. so i thought i'd go out and buy an inexpensive compass to carry around with me for when it's time to pray.
saada---my phone won't allow those kinds of applications.
and it's okay.
it would be good if you cannot work out the direction of the Qibla by the sun :)

Can you reccomend a good compass? i am looking for a handsome compass, preferably one with a lid you open. i need it to be durable, for long range hiking trips. i need it to be accurate, not like those cheep kinds that take a different reading of north every time you take it out. oh, and i would like for it to be semi-affordable. ten points to the one i choose to buy!
You never said what you`ll be using the compass for, there are reasons for different shaped compasses. You have engineering lensatic compasses that are made to shoot bearings at object in the distance, so you can bushwack to them and there are the flat base plate compasses for Orienteering, makes it easier to use with maps. Then there are hybrids, I know silva and Suunto both make them where they have flat base plates but have a cap with a mirror in it to make it easier to shoot a bearing
