Q. What is the difference between a good wig and a bad wig?

A good wig fits well, does not shift or move around, and most importantly cannot be distinguished from your real hair. IMHO a good wig should also not tangle easily and if it does the tangles should brush out easily. PS. If your wig does get tangled try dabbing conditioner on your brush. It works wonders. You can rinse out the conditioner once the tangles are out.

Q. What s the difference between compass and sat?

"A compass and a satellite are completely different..."

A compass and a satellite are completely different. I assume thats what you mean by sat. Some devices use satellite info like gps`s to approximate a compass but the trouble is when you are not moving they don`t seem to be able to tell the direction you are facing.

This answer closely relates to:
  • Difference between compass and dividers

Q. What is the difference between a good compass and a cheap compass?

"On my cheap compass..."

On my cheap compass, the needle sticks. You have to tap it to be sure you are heading the right way. I believe a good compass is more reliable, and it built better to withstand all the knocks and bumps sure to happen while camping. Ted 13 Miller St., Toronto, Ontario

Q. Whats the difference between true and magnetic compasses?
if you have sources that would help. if you have sources that would help. what i have is a gps and i am wondering which one i should choose. i live in the lower peninsula of michigan.

"The compass needle becomes less accurate with regards to "true"..."

The magnetic north pole is not at the true north pole - it's in Canada. So as you go further north, the compass needle becomes less accurate with regards to "true"; north (this is called "Declination," and in Alaska, for example, magnetic north is 55 degrees or more from true north).

Q. Whats the difference between a compass and a divider?
we are doing a mini research assignment on layout tools and as i looked for drafting dividers i noticed that they are pretty much like compasses, but there should be a difference. or are they the same?

"The two points of a devider are identical while that of a compass..."

Observe closely. The two points of a devider are identical while that of a compass, one is a metalic point which only pricks and do not write. It is only used as a pivot in drawing a circle by the other point which is a writing device like a pencil or in some innovated version, a pen with ink. A devider is not for drawing but for comparing line length in a drawing.

Q. What is the difference between compass north and true (geological) north?
i am working on a research paper for class on the bermuda triangle, and i would like the know the difference between compass north and true (geological) north. can someone please help me with this question? :d thank you, stephen. i am working on a research paper for class on the bermuda triangle, and i would like the know the difference between compass north and true (geological) north. can someone please help me with this question? :d thank you, stephen. thanks alex n and spister.

As stated above the Geological North Pole is the Axis of the earth's rotation. The Magnetic North Pole, according to a geological Survey of Canada in 2001 was near Ellesmere Island in Canada at 81.3 deg N, 110.8 deg W. In 2005 the Magnetic North Pole was estimated to be at 82.7 deg N, 114.4 deg W. from these changes you can see that it is moving North West. The direction of the Magnetic North (Compass North) can vary from place to place on the earth's surface. This is known as Magnetic Variation and is constantly changing.

Q. What's the difference between true, magnetic, and compass north? how do u convert it from one to another?
i'm 12, and i'm in the navy cadets, recently, the instructors hav been teaching us about the true north, compass north, and magnetic north during navigation lesson so we'll be ready to sail during the summer. but i just don't get the difference between the three and how you convert it from one to another. so can someone please explain the difference between the three and the convertion to me in a way so a 12 year old will understand. thanks a million!

"Your location and the time of the compass reading as the magnetic north is..."

http://www.compassdude.com/compass-declination.shtml Here is a site that will answer the details if you want to read it. The conversion to true north depends entirely on your location and the time of the compass reading as the magnetic north is always moving. There are only two points in longitude in the northern hemisphere where the magnetic north and true north line up at any given time and are on opposite sides of the earth. All other locations have a deviation to true north.

Q. What is the difference between magnetic heading and compass heading?
i was reading the answers to the "hudson river plane" turning to 280 and in almost every answer magnet heading of 280 was mentioned. what's the difference between magnetic and compass heading??

"Magnetic heading and compass heading are nearly synonymous..."

Magnetic heading and compass heading are nearly synonymous. The reason people say magnetic heading is to distinguish it from true heading. Magnetic heading is a heading relative to the magnetic poles of the Earth; true heating is a heading relative to the actual North and South Poles of the Earth (around which the planet rotates). The magnetic poles aren't in the same place as the geographic ("true") poles, so it's important to specify which one is intended. Although true headings make more sense than magnetic headings, aviation has traditionally used magnetic headings because a simple compass can point to the magnetic poles, whereas finding true headings reliably was difficult until the era of things like satellite navigation. Unlike true headings, magnetic headings vary in unusual ways due to irregularities in the Earth and its magnetic field and other influences. There are many influences to allow for, and this means that sometimes the heading indicated by a compass isn't the real magnetic heading. But normally, and by definition, the compass indicates the actual magnetic heading of the aircraft.

Q. What is the difference between the poles of a compass with those of a magnet?
what is the difference between the poles of a compass with those of a magnet? i need a detailed explanation, thank you :)

"The north arrow of a compass is actually the "north-seeking"..."

The north arrow of a compass is actually the "north-seeking"; pole. In other words, the tip of a compass that points north is actually the south pole of the magnet. In a bar magnet, the pole labeled north is actually a north pole.

Q. What is the difference between the jeep compass and the jeep patriot?
i'm looking at small suvs and wagons and like what i've seen in the two small jeeps but wonder what separates the two and also, which is more like the dodge caliber and which is more suv/jeeplike, thanks.

"The difference is just in appearance and options...."

Both jeeps are very close to the same so close that they use the same Body code MK. This means that they are the same size. The difference is just in appearance and options.

Q. What's the difference between sat and compass?

"Some colleges use the compass test as an entrance exam..."

The SAT is a test students take to get into college. Its usually taken as a high school senior. Many colleges look at this score to determine whether a student is eligible to attend their college. SAT scores can also determine scholarship worth as well. ( not always though!) Some colleges use the compass test as an entrance exam. Meaning, one has to have a certain score before being eligible to attend that particular school. Schools with open admission use it to see what classes a student needs to take.
