"The verge of getting rid of the bird feeder..."

This is such an incredible problem for me. I have tried everything and now I am on the verge of getting rid of the bird feeder . Please somebody please rescue the poor starving birds around my house in the winter by telling me how to get rid of my mouse problem that has come about because of all the spilled seeds. Birds are really pretty but they are also very messy eaters. They spill more seed than they eat.
