Functionally not too much except for a good compass will have a casing that allows you to line up the compass with the map for orienteering. It depends on your intent whether or not you need to spend to buy the more expensive compass.

Reliability would be 1 Honda 2 Ford 3 Jeep Power would be 1 Ford (with a V6) 2 Honda 3 Jeep the last two are close though, they are both 2.4 L fours. Have you ever driven any of these? The Compass is awful, that engine is noisy and the CVT is annoying, unless you get the 5 speed stick. If you are really thinking about a Jeep, look at the Patriot instead of the Compass, it's the same platform but has a different body and has gotten much better reviews. Personally, I'd buy the CRV
